Please note Charm will be ready to leave for her home in around 3 to 4 weeks but we would like to start to source and introduce her to that perfect home ASAP. Please read her full write up.

Charm is a 7 year old female amputee working Cocker Spaniel. Due to this she does need a home that understands Spaniels or Gundogs and their traits.

Charm has very obviously to this point had a dreadful life. Bred repeatedly and then left with a torn off foot with the rest of her leg stripped bar of flesh bar small rotting parts she has suffered dreadfully. Team that with her ripped torn ear that was rotting we can not even begin to imagine what she endured.

Despite this Charm is absolutely charming still with people. She has not let it taint her and she is loving, affectionate and wants to be in the company of her humans.

She is fine in the main with calm dogs BUT as can be typical of the breed she can be a little resourceful with them when attention from her humans is involved, toys or food. She is not though outright nasty though but will growl and air snap.

Charm is definitely a dog that needs other dogs around, her ability to co exist with other dogs will very much depend on their temperament. She gets on equally well with male and female dogs as long as they are calm, non jealous, respectful and won't push her.

We would only consider allowing Charm to go to an only dog home if they were extremely experienced in the breed and available to her at all times in the main especially in the beginning months during settling.

She is not cat friendly and could live with dog savy children 8 years and upwards.

Please do not let her missing leg fool you or make you feel sorry for her. Charms mentality is still very much that of a working Cocker. She is fast and agile on 3 legs and does have a strong hunting drive.

Due to this any home would need to understand that and understand how to channel it. She is not a dog able to go off lead necessarily now in areas where she could risk being caught up or wander off and fall as although her mind is still as strong as ever her back leg strength isn't what it would have once been.

As is typically Spaniel Charm is very bonded with her owners. Therefore she would prefer a home where someone is around all or most of the time. She is crate trained and can be left with the company of other dogs but whilst settling she does like a bit of a sing song. She did howl when first joining us at the kennels house and crated but that is now settling.

She is clean in her crate and clean when lose in the house so housetraining has not proven to be an issue. Charm also travels well and enjoys journeys out.

Charm is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and will shortly be spayed before rehoming. She will be rehomed with one months free insurance from Petplan.

Charm is based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and should she be fortunate to have multiple applications priority will be given to suitable homes nearer to our main areas of operations Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire and the Midlands.

You will need to be willing to travel to meet her with all members of the immediate family and any current resident dogs.
