Lurcher Search UK is an organisation that was set up to help reunite lost or stolen dogs and their owners.

If you have a missing dog or details of a dog you have found you can contact them and it will be added to their online database.

Some ways of protecting your dog against theft or helping to find them if they get loose are as follows:-

MICROCHIPPING

Most vets and some rescue organisations such as the NCDL or RSPCA offer this service.

TAGS

If your dog has multiple collars ie house and walking make sure both have clear tags on. It is always best that you don't provide your dog's name on the tag as this makes it easier for thieves or people who find your dog to entice it more easily. On one side have your telephone number and your postcode on the other your vets or another contact number as you may be out searching when the call you want to hear comes through.

SPAYING/NEUTERING

Although this does not guarantee your dog wont be taken it does reduce the risk that the dog will be kept and used for breeding. In both sexes it also reduces the urge of wanderlust ie male knowing there is a bitch in heat and female wanting to get out to mate.
