MEET SOME OF OUR OVERLOOKED HOUNDS!!!

The dogs listed below are now some of Greyhound Gap's longest stayers and we have no idea why!

Could you find it in your heart to offer a long term rescue dog a home?

Rita

Meet Rita a beautiful 4 year old Dark Brindle Greyhound Girl.

Image

Rita is a VERY pretty lady and oh my doesnt she know it. Rita thinks she is the bee's knee's and isnt afraid to tell everyone.

This special lady is personality plus, she adores other hounds and loves her people, she is also great with older dog friendly children but slightly bouncy so probably best not in a home with youngsters.

In the main Rita walks well on leash BUT she does still need some vital socialisation around other breeds of dogs and can become quite bouncy when encountering small dogs and dogs running off leash. She is also NOT cat friendly. However, Rita is very responsive to being told no and if kept on a short leash and a firm talking to out on walks she settles down well.

Rita has been mostly clean in her foster home since day one with just one little accident when she first arrived, she has also been left in the company of the other hounds and has been absolutly fine.

Rita would be best in a home with experience of more high energy greyhounds and someone who has already worked through socialisation and possibly willing to take her to classes.

Whoever takes the time to put a little bit of work into this minx is not going to regret it!! Rita is also quite a big girl for a greyhound so not a smaller girlie incase anyone was thinking she is.

Rita is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, wormed, microchipped and spayed.

UPDATED. Rita is now spotlessly clean, fine to be left and is walking lovely on leash

Max

Meet the beautiful Max

Image

Max came into our care from a stray pound situation recently with his brother Paddy. Together they were typical bouncy looney lurchers but since being apart they have shown that they really are calm, gentile dogs with quite a shy retiring nature.

Max is a real sweetheart and is already settling well in a home environment and other than a couple of overnight accidents has been clean. Although a lurcher Max is very like a greyhound in persona so would prefer a home either as an only dog where he isnt left for much of an amount of time OR with calmer, gentler dogs as a companion. Too much bouncing around upsets him and frightens him making him nervous. Max is great with children but due to his nervous persona a home with older children who are use to being around quiet dogs would be preffered.

Max walks reasonably well on leash but can have a bit of a goof around. This is already improving and he isnt hard to control. Max loves nothing better to have a good run around in a secure area and we feel with a little work he will be a reliable off leash hound.

Max is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and neutered
