Holding Kennel Hounds
Before rehoming all of Greyhound Gap's dogs are placed into a foster home for full assessment to assertain their needs in their new home, we find that after being given this start with our experienced foster carers it helps to make the transition into their forever home easier.
However, recently we have been in the lucky position of being able to secure fabulous holding facilities with a private boarding kennel in the Stoke on Trent area. The kennel staff have vast experience in working with and boarding rescue dogs. For the small cost of just £4 a day the dogs receive a clean warm kennel, food and regular excercise and grooming. This facility enables us to take dogs in serious danger of euthanasia at extremely short notice regardless of whether a suitable foster home is vacant at the time. These dogs do still move into foster care before rehoming as soon as a suitable space is available.
We would like to be able to work towards offering 6 permanant spaces in kennels however although £4 a day sounds like a small amount with 6 dogs to consider it means in total its a cost of around £700 per month which for a relative small organisation such as Gap does place a high financial drain.
How you can help?
Below you will see the dogs in our care who are currently in private boarding awaiting a suitable foster situation. We invite people to consider sponsoring a weeks kenneling costs on behalf of our hounds at a cost of £28 per week, if you cannot afford the full weeks kenneling any donations received no matter how small are more than greatfully appreciated.
How to make a kenneling donation?
Kenneling donations can be made in three ways.
