Our special boy Freddie is now ready to find a home to call his own. This will probably be a very long write up but please if you are interested in offering Fred a home take the time to read it all.

Freddie is a lurcher boy who came into our care in July last year. Upon landing with us Freddie was absolutely terrified of everyone and everything around him. He has 3 very specific breeds in his make up all renowned for being quite stand offish with strangers and that combined with lack of socialisation and a nervous disposition means he was not a dog for the faint hearted.

Freddie does not have a mean bone in his body and after lots of work here with us at Greyhound Gap although he can still be scared and reserved at times in the main now with us he is a silly, playful boy. From a dog terrified of walks he now loves his walks and from silent he can sometimes now be a little vocal on lead from the urge to over enthusiastic greet.

We have bought Freddie as far as we can on our journey with us here at Greyhound Gap and he now needs a patient home with other dogs preferably 2 or 3 already bonded into a pack so that he has a group he can disappear into and find security with and be left to take their lead and work to trust you in his own time. Any garden must be secure and any owner ideally must be around a lot of the time so no homes where all are full time workers he would not cope. He absolutely MUST be walked on a lead and must not be let off. The slightest thing would scare him and he would bolt. He will come good but he is still currently very much on a journey.

Freddie needs a quietish adult only home without resident children. He has so much to learn and they worry him. Experienced sighthound owners use to dealing with a nervous dog would be his ultimate ideal.

Freddie is the most wonderful cheeky boy when he gets to know you and is the biggest soppiest lover ever but new owners must understand fully what they are undertaking with full support and back up from ourselves. He is going to be such a rewarding dog. Freddie needs a home with no small furries or cats as his prey drive is progressing more and more as the nerves subside.

Freddie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, neutered and microchipped and has received a dental. He will also be rehomed with one months Petplan insurance. Freddie is currently located in Stoke on Trent but can be rehomed nationally for the exact right home but any members of the immediate family or resident dogs must be willing to travel to meet with him.

If you are interested in offering Freddie a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire.

Please note due to the current situation with Covid 19 priority will be given to homes in and around Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire. Other areas may be considered but this will very much be on a case by case basis and at the rescues discretion as some areas are not tenable for us to carry out necessary due diligence in at the moment.
