Please note we are located in Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire and any family wishing to rehome from ourselves must be willing to travel to undertake a rehoming interview with ourselves before a decision is made on a dog and suitability. This will also be followed up with a visit to your home.

JD is a 7 year old lurcher boy now ready to find his perfect home but please do read up on his needs.

JD landed into our care a few years ago as a boarding dog for another rescue. Originally rehomed by them as a puppy sadly his owners had struggled to manage his size and had walked him under the cover of darkness and he suffered a distinct lack of socialisation with both humans and other dogs. Realising they had nowhere suitable to take him once collected we were contacted. What landed with us that day was a huge real life Scooby Doo. A huge bulk of terrified energy that didn't really understand the world and a face stuck into one position whale eye. The rescue responsible for JD has now ceased to operate and we asked he remain in our care and we start to look for a home.

Thankfully over the years JD has been a pleasure to gently work with. He is now one of the most laid back managed dogs we have in our care BUT there will still be work to do within a home environment. JD must be an only pet in a home without children or visiting children and with owners who have experience of larger breeds and the time to work with us as a rescue to settle him. Ideally a home with someone around all or most of the time and without expected plans for that to change. Once settled we do feel he will be fine to be left for short periods but that won't be instantaneously as he can still at times be slightly insecure. JD does still need some work around food. He is in no ways possessive but can be obsessive. That is managed here with lots of scatter and enrichment feeding as opposed to just being fed from a bowl. Any home will have to be confident enough to handle him also where veterinary work is necessary as he is still quite a wuss in that situation and the ability to remove him if a situation becomes too stressful would be necessary.

All that said JD is now absolutely one of our favourites here at the kennels. He is a joy to walk and ignores other dogs in the main focusing on his handler. He needs to be kept on lead as even though we have attempted to mix him here with other dogs his play style can very quickly go over the top and if then challenged he does not back down. JD travels well and is housetrained he is not cat or small furry safe.

JD is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped, castrated and has received a dental.JD is located in Stoke on Trent and any family wishing to offer him a home would be required to travel to meet him on a few occasions.  If you feel you could offer JD the home he deserves please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire below:
