Sookie is a stunning 9 year old lurcher girl who needs an understanding and experienced home.

When Sookie landed with us it was easy to see she had not had a good time and was angry with the world. She was extremely people and dog reactive and was so overly sensitive that she got upset very easily.

With time, patience and love now she adores people and greets everyone she meets like a long lost friend.

It is easy to see though that where dogs are concerned she is still very fearful however, after lots of work from our wonderful staff and volunteers in the main now if a dog does not react to her on the walk she can be managed to pass them working to keep her attention on you.

Sookie will need an experienced patient home to continue her through her progress.

Sookie needs to be an only dog but we feel she could easily adapt as long as someone was around in the main in the beginning to work alongside us to settle her in in the right manner.

Due to the worry we have seen in the past we feel older children who are dog savvy aged 10 plus is a must. We feel that Sookie will settle into home life relatively easily and with the right owner not phased by her difficulties outdoors will learn to thrive in confidence when she trusts her careers to keep her safe.

Sookie is clean in her kennel, walks well out on her lead and travels like a dream. She is NOT cat friendly.

Sookie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, spayed, microchipped and will come with 1 months free insurance.

If you are interested in offering Sookie a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire below.

Beautiful Wolfie is a 6 year old saluki x whippet type girl who has joined us recently at Greyhound Gap.

We would love to find Wolfie the special new home she so deserves locally but it will need to be a patient understanding home who are willing to work with us here at the centre for sometime before finally taking her home.

It was very obvious to us upon landing that Wolfie has come from a situation with a domestic violence background. Upon landing with us here at Greyhound Gap she was fine with the females on the premises but very watchful and worried of the males especially when they were in close situation to the female members of staff and the volunteers team.

With work here now Wolfie is happy and relaxed with most of the men she comes into contact with including new ones as long as they leave her to be and don't try to force her to enjoy their company or immediately become their friends. This means her homing needs to be taking much more steadily than would usually be the case with multiple meetings and visits both here and at the potential new adopters home.

If Wolfie were to find a female only home we do think she would settle easier but this would still of course mean there was work to do with any visiting males likewise out and about in the big bad world she would need support to feel comfortable.

A home with a calm confident male dog in residence we feel would help her and she could take some of the lead from their confidence measures. Were she to be an only dog we feel there could be an issue with over bonding and separation anxiety being created. This though is something we are willing to work with and offer guidance on for the right calm quiet home with someone around all of most of the time.

Wolfie is a dream to walk on lead, she travels well, seems to have been okay with all dogs she has met at the kennels and although she has never received house training in the past she has lived in a home and we don't feel it would take her long to master it.

Wolfie is not good with cats and we would prefer she was rehomed into an environment without children or visiting children under the age of late teenager.

This girl melts all our hearts, we adore her, she is such a pretty girl and deep down has a wonderfully generous if somewhat fearful heart due to past environmental circumstances. She is so wasted in kennels and we really do want to see that family willing to work with us to get her onto that sofa come forward.

Wolfie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped, spayed, received a dental and comes with 1 months free insurance.

We are so sad here at Greyhound Gap that our glorious little Prinny keeps getting over looked. Prinny is now coming up to 9 and was originally rehomed by us here at Greyhound Gap when she was 2. Sadly her owner passed away and she had to come back to us. Since then she has had very little interest.

Prinny is a stocky whippet cross and can be quite a timid girl at times. Due to this she was said to have periods of lead reactivity in her home as she was scared of other dogs out on walk.

Since being back with us here we have not seen evidence of this and she walks well with the other dogs here at the kennels.

She would ideally need a home though in an area that is not to busy where she would constantly be stressed out and bothered by other dogs especially off lead ones running up to her.

Prinny has lived with a male sausage dog so with careful introductions is more than capable of living with another male companion.

Prinny doesn't like being left alone for long periods of time so a home where someone was around all or most of the time would be best.

She isn't the most confident traveller but doesn't make a fuss about it happening and does settle to deal with is.

She isn't cat or small furry friendly.

Prinny is fully housetrained and has been use to children so would be fine to live with dog savvy children 8 years and upwards.

She likes a quiet life so we feel children younger than that may make her a little jumpy and nervous.

This little girl so deserves a patient experienced owner willing to give her some love and a comfortable remaining number of years. She has so much love to offer and loves to receive affection back.

Prinny is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped, spayed and has received a dental and will also be sent home with 1 months free insurance.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ALBERTS HOMING REQUIREMENTS IN FULL BEFORE CONSIDERING APPLYING NOT JUST LOOK AT HIS PHOTOS. ALBERT NEEDS A VERY DEFINITE EXPERIENCED HOME.

Albert is a large 5 year old lurcher boy who landed in our care recently as his owners were struggling to manage him.

He is a large boisterous dog who does not know his own size and strength and it resulted in an incident where he placed a nip on the child he lived with in the home. It could have been much worse and the decision was made that for everyones safety he needed a different environment.

Albert needs a home with those experienced with larger sighthounds and he MUST absolutely be an only dog and with no children under 16 years of age and no young visiting children.

He is not small furry friendly.

Out on walks Albert is great if walked with the kennels dogs at a distance but can be reactive with other dogs he sees.

He needs a home confident on handling this and continuing to work with it and his gentle socialisation. Our staff are extremely versed and experienced at walking but at the moment Albert is walked on a head collar to ensure better management of him if he does decide to behave in a reactive manner.

Albert is quite the fusspot and can be quite demanding of your attention so a home where there is someone around all or most of the time especially in the beginning to allow us to work with you to settle him in.

He likes to be busy and does like to use his brain as much as he does being out exercising. He needs lots of activities and things to do during the day to help tire him out. So a home with the time and energy to invest in him having fun. He would also benefit from training and socialisation classes.

He travels well and although is kennelled is clean in his kennel and housetraining was not an issue in his old home. He had also been left for an hour or two at a time without issues once settled.

Albert is a lovely dog but he is what he is! A large busy young lurcher who needs a home that sees past his looks and understands there is much more to him than a rough coat and a pretty face. Albert does have some allergies that is treated with tablets and Greyhound Gap will commit to the continued cost of those within a home environment. Other than that he is in good health.

Albert is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, neutered, microchipped and will be rehomed with a months free insurance from Petplan.

With time, patience and a little investment Albert will be an absolutely wonderful dog.

For more information or to be considered to offer Albert a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption form below:

Please meet the rather beautiful Sandra. We really hope that this wonderful 4 year old Greyhound girl does not get overlooked.

Sandra has a bit more of a strong prey drive than most Greyhounds and for a tiny girl really can pack a punch. Upon landing with us she was quite the handful but the staff has worked so hard with her and now she is ready to find an experienced home to call her own. Sandra absolutely can not live with small furies or cats. She could live with a male Greyhound but is also self contained and independent enough to absolutely be an only dog.

With people Sandra is a total cuddle monster. She loves nothing better than climbing onto the sofa in the home from home room and having a good long old relax. She is also spotlessly clean in her kennel, walks well and travels like a dream. Out and about on lead she walks beautifully in the main and has gone from extremley reactive to a bit more of a simple Starey Mary now. She is very attentive if you concentrate on keeping her engaged and offering cream cheese from a squeezy tube along the way. This girl really does have so much love to give and after such a long time with us whilst the work needed was placed in we hope now it wont be to long until she has a family to call her own.

Sandra is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped, spayed and has received a dental. She will also be rehomed with a months free insurance from Petplan. For more information or to offer Sandra a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire below.
