Storm is a stunning 3 year old saluki x girl. It is very easy to see that before landing with us Storm has not had the best life and has suffered through lack of socialisation.

When Storm landed with us she would scream and hurl herself at the wall to get away from you, a lead would result in her screaming and flinging herself into the air and trying to land full pelt side on and men could not even get within 20ft of her without her screaming and trying to run full pelt in panic. We have worked as hard as you possibly could with this girl here at Greyhound Gap and now men are not something to be feared and walks are absolutely enjoyed. She no longer shys away from touch if anything she is now at risk of developing issues due to her constant need for comfort.

Storm will need an experienced and patient lurcher home who have the time and patience to work at settling her into home life. We feel she would be best suited to a home with a male Lurcher or Greyhound companion a calm and well socialised dog would be a must to help her to feel more confident with her surroundings and life in general.

We do feel without the right guidance Storm could develop separation anxiety so a home willing to work with us to ensure settling is handled sensitively and without time constraints is a must. She is not good with small furries or cats and there must be no young children resident in the home. We feel children 10 plus would be necessary as to much noise or fast movements would upset her.

We know its a tall order but she absolutely has shown what an amazing little dog she is capable of being with how far she has come with us and how much she has been willing to learn.
Storm is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and is spayed. She will be rehomed with one months free Petplan insurance.

If you are interested in offering Storm a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire.

Please note due to the current situation with Covid 19 priority will be given to homes in and around Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire. Other areas may be considered but this will very much be on a case by case basis and at the rescues discretion as some areas are not tenable for us to carry out necessary due diligence in at the moment.

Please be aware that Greyhound Gap are based in Staffordshire and in normal circumstances do home throughout the UK.   However, due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, there may be some instances where it will not be possible to arrange suitable home visits.  We will, of course, try to be as flexible possible but there may be some areas we just cannot currently cover. All potential adopters will be expected to travel to our kennels to undertake our interview process in order to enable us to go through our adoption matching process.

Sookie is a stunning 7 year old lurcher girl who needs an understanding and experienced home.

When Sookie landed with us it was easy to see she had not had a good time and was angry with the world. She was extremely people and dog reactive and was so overly sensitive that she got upset very easily. With time, patience and love now she adores people and greets everyone she meets like a long lost friend. It is easy to see though that where dogs are concerned she is still very fearful however after lots of work from our wonderful staff and volunteers in the main now if a dog does not react to her on the walk she can be managed to pass them working to keep her attention on you.

Sookie will need an experienced patient home to continue her through her progress. Sookie needs to be an only dog but we feel she could easily adapt as long as someone was around in the main in the beginning to work alongside us to settle her in in the right manner. Due to the worry we have seen in the past we feel older children who are dog savy and aged 10 plus is a must. We feel that Sookie will settle into home life relatively easily and with the right owner not phased by her difficulties outdoors will learn to thrive in confidence when she trusts her careers to keep her safe.

Sookie is clean in her kennel, walks well out on her lead and travels like a dream. She is NOT cat friendly.  Sookie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, spayed and microchipped.

If you are interested in offering Sookie a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire.

Beautiful Wolfie is a 6 year old saluki x whippety type girl who has joined us recently at Greyhound Gap. We would love to find Wolfie the special new home she so deserves locally but it will need to be a patient understanding home who are willing to work with us here at the center for sometime before finally taking her home.

It was very obvious to us upon landing that Wolfie has come from a situation with a domestic violence background. Upon landing with us here at Greyhound Gap she was fine with the females on the premises but very watchful and worried of the males especially when they were in close situation to the female members of staff and the volunteers team. With work here now Wolfie is happy and relaxed with most of the men she comes into contact with including new ones as long as they leave her to be and don't try to force her to enjoy their company or immediately become their friends. This means her homing needs to be taking much more steadily than would usually be the case with multiple meetings and visits both here and at the potential new adopters home.

If Wolfie were to find a female only home we do think she would settle easier but this would still of course mean there was work to do with any visiting males likewise out and about in the big bad world she would need support to feel comfortable. A home with a calm confident male dog in residence we feel would help her and she could take some of the lead from their confidence measures. Were she to be an only dog we feel there could be an issue with over bonding and separation anxiety being created. This though is something we are willing to work with and offer guidance on for the right calm quiet home with someone around all of most of the time.

Wolfie is a dream to walk on lead, she travels well, seems to have been okay with all dogs she has met at the kennels and although she has never received house training in the past she has lived in a home and we don't feel it would take her long to master it. Wolfie is not good with cats and we would prefer she was rehomed into an environment without children or visiting children under the age of late teenager.

This girl melts all our hearts, we adore her, she is such a pretty girl and deep down has a wonderfully generous if somewhat fearful heart due to past environmental circumstances. She is so wasted in kennels and we really do want to see that family willing to work with us to get her onto that sofa come forward.

Wolfie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and will be spayed and receive a dental before rehoming.

Please note due to Covid 19 restrictions we are currently only rehoming dogs in and around Staffordshire. There are some instances where we can make exceptions for those further afield namely those who have already been assessed and adopted from us and in some instances if possible those with previous sighthound experience.

Our AMAZING 3 year old Freddie is now ready to continue on to finding his special forever home. Freddie was one of the dogs who stayed with us during lockdown as we felt he needed to have a couple of meet and greets with a new family and sadly that was not possible due to guidelines.... However, that time was absolutely not lost and the progress he made here with us during that time was immense, therefore this is an updated write up to reflect his progress.

Freddie joined us terrified and shut down and it took us a huge huge amount of time to make that break through but once we did what a break through it was. He soon went from timid to people being one of his absolutely favorite things and now he just can not get enough fuss or attention. If strangers now say hello to him calmly he warms up to them very quickly. Out and about on walks now Freddie's fears are gone he loves them, he also loves to run and play with other dogs and also to cuddle up to them in bed. He shares a kennel with a female and it often seems pointless having 2 beds in there as they are never separate. He would need keeping on lead though or only exercising in enclosed areas he would still be a flight risk until that bond was formulated in a home over time with his new owners and a bond created with existing dogs. Freddie absolutely could NOT live as an only dog. It would be unfair he just loves to be around them. He can live with kind medium sized dogs and above and would love a female companion.

Having originally needed a child free home we do feel now he would be absolutely fine in a home with children teenage upwards who were sensible. He is not cat friendly but travels well. Out on lead he walks well in the main but can have his silly moments especially if he decides to start playing bowing the others and encouraging them or seeing other dogs in the distance. He is not small furry or cat friendly.

House training wise Freddie toilets as soon as allowed out to empty and is working hard to keep his kennel clean. He has benefited massively during lockdown from the addition of the home from home room and is now only mildly curious about TVs and washing machines and adapted to them quickly. He also shows no signs of wishing to toilet in that area. Freddie has progressed to being a wonderful, cheeky and at times mischievous dog and just needs a lurcher savvy sensible home now willing to put in that last bit of time and energy to enable him to continue on his journey. Freddie's ideal home will most definitely be with someone around all or most of the time to support him whilst he settles.

Freddie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped, neutered has received a dental and will be rehomed with one months free insurance via Petplan. If you are interested in learning more about any of the dogs in our care or applying to be considered to adopt one then please do in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire below.

Our beautiful little whippet x girl Star is now ready to start looking for her forever home. Star is around 7 years of age and joined us from the stray pound.

When Star first joined us she was vastly undersocialised and horrendously dog reactive. Now after a lot of work she is in the main able to ignore most other dogs when out and about on lead. Friday she surpassed herself when an offlead out of control labrador came running over to her and Amber and started to climb all over into her face. Bar one woof and threat growl she followed Amber's cues perfectly and did herself proud. Off lead with other dogs Star is still very bossy and would get herself into trouble as she won't back off or back down if another dog has a go at her and causes trouble.

Star is looking for a pet free home ideally with someone around all or most of the time especially in the beginning to work with us to help her settle. She would need to be kept on lead out on walks. With people Star is wonderful and extremely affectionate and could be rehomed with dog savy children 8 years and upwards.  Star is currently with us at the kennels and is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, spayed and had received a dental.

If you are interested in offering Star a home please in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire.
